    • E2 Homes, LLC, built this 3,912-square-foot home in Maitland, Florida, to the performance criteria of the U.S. Department of Energy Zero Energy Ready Home (ZERH) program.
    • Concrete and pervious stone replace lawn for minimal water use and low-maintenance landscaping.
    • All of the interior and exterior lamps are energy-efficient light emitting diode (LED) lighting.
    • Board-form concrete walls are insulated along the inside with rigid foam providing an insulation value of R-19, while the unvented roof is insulated on the underside with R-21 of spray foam.
    • Durable concrete walls, thermoplastic polyolefin (TPO) roofing, protective overhangs, and pervious stone ground cover all increase the home’s resistance to tropical storms.
    • Deep overhangs protect most of the windows from direct overhead sun while low-emissivity coatings on the glass help block heat transmission into the interiors.
    • A 10-kW photovoltaic electric generating system installed on the roof helps save homeowners an estimated $2,850 in energy bills annually compared to a home built to code.
    • The home was equipped with a high-efficiency ENERGY STAR refrigerator and dishwasher for energy and water savings.
    • All interior lamps are energy-efficient light emitting diode (LED) lighting.
    • The home meets the requirements of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Indoor airPLUS certification including the use of structural wood products, primer, paint, cabinets, and flooring that emit no or few air contaminants.
