    • Capstone Homes built this 2,196-square-foot affordable home in Greenville, South Carolina, to the high performance criteria of the U.S. Department of Energy Zero Energy Ready Home (ZERH) program.
    • Overhangs and porches protect the composite wood siding while ice-and-water shield provides extra weather resistance at all ridges, valleys, and along the eaves under the 30-year asphalt shingles.
    • ENERGY STAR appliances, advanced LED lighting, and motion sensor-controlled lights add to energy savings.
    • A high-efficiency tankless gas water heater provides endless hot water.
    • Low- and no-VOC primers and adhesives help minimize contaminants in the EPA Indoor airPLUS certified home.
    • An energy recovery ventilator fresh air system with a MERV 7 filter provides clean air throughout the home.
    • The home is centrally heated and cooled with a high-efficiency gas furnace and air conditioner located in the sealed, conditioned attic.
    • The home’s 2-by-6, 16-inch on-center walls are sheathed with 7/16-inch OSB and filled with open-cell spray foam then covered with house wrap.
    • To minimize heat loss, all of the home’s ducts are located within the conditioned space of the home, either in open-web floor joists or in the conditioned attic.
