    • Thornhill Custom Homes built this 6,471-square-foot custom home in Dallas, Texas, to the high performance criteria of the U.S. Department of Energy Zero Energy Ready Home (ZERH) program.
    • White stucco walls reflect the sun, helping to minimize heat gain.
    • The double-pane, wood and fiberglass-framed windows have low-e3 coatings to minimize heat transfer into the home in summer or out of the home in winter.
    • Long-lasting LEDs save energy and require far fewer bulb changes than other types of lighting.
    • ENERGY STAR appliances and ceiling fans add to energy savings.
    • A tankless gas water heater supplies endless hot water to the low-flow faucets.
    • Low-/no-VOC paints and finishes were used throughout the EPA Indoor airPLUS certified home.
    • Custom-made floor and roof trusses were designed to allow straight runs for HVAC ducts.
    • A corrugated-plastic ventilated rain screen product was installed over the house wrap to provide a ventilation gap and drainage plane behind the stucco, stone, and timber siding.
    • The modern design includes a nearly flat roof covered with a highly reflective 60-mil TPO Cool Roof Certified white roofing membrane that minimizes heat gain.
