    • Meritage Homes built this 5,778-square-foot custom home in Orlando, Florida, to the high performance criteria of the U.S. Department of Energy Zero Energy Ready Home (ZERH) program.
    • Beneath its stucco and stone exterior, the home is constructed of insulated concrete panels that are sealed at the seams and covered with a weather-resistant barrier and a rain screen product. Together these provide for a moisture-resistant, bug-resistant, storm-resistant home.
    • Native plants reduce watering needs.
    • ENERGY STAR appliances and water-saving plumbing fixtures add to energy and water savings in the efficient home.
    • All of the home's lighting is provided by LED fixtures.
    • A heat pump clothes dryer is among the resource-efficient appliances in the home.
    • Metal-reinforced rigid foam panels create a form for the concrete foundation walls.
    • Rigid foam was installed under the entire slab.
    • The concrete wall system includes bug-resistant metal framing.
    • The home is equipped with a greywater recycling system.
