The Hale Plan

    • In 2012, New Town Builders committed to building all of its Stapleton homes in Denver to the high-performance criteria of the U.S. DOE Zero Energy Ready Home program.
    • All homes meet the healthy indoor air requirements of the EPA's Indoor airPLUS program.
    • High-efficiency ENERGY STAR appliances and water-saving plumbing fixtures help reduce energy and water use.
    • Certified low-/no-VOC paints, finishes, and carpets help provide a healthy indoor environment.
    • The homeowner can track electricity production from the home's solar electric panels designed to provide enough electricity to meet nearly all of the home's energy needs.
    • Double-wall continuous thermal blanket construction is used with two 2-by-4 walls set 2 inches apart to create an ultra-efficient 9.5-inch-thick wall cavity filled with blown-in fiberglass insulation.
    • Energy-saving attic perimeter insulation is achieved with raised heel roof trusses that provide adequate space over the outer walls for full-depth attic insulation.
    • High-efficiency advanced framing techniques reduce the lumber use while providing more room for insulation. This includes high-efficiency window framing and single rather than multiple studs and open headers.
