Lotus Townhome

    • Philgreen Construction built this 1,434-square-foot multifamily project in Fort Collins, Colorado, to the high performance criteria of the U.S. Department of Energy Zero Energy Ready Home (ZERH) program.
    • The simple shed roofs allowed Philgreen to install up to 5.46 kW of solar panels on the roofs of these townhomes.
    • Coated OSB wall sheathing with taped seams replaced house wrap as the continuous drainage plane and air barrier behind the siding.
    • Vinyl-framed, double-pane windows let in light and keep in heat.
    • ENERGY STAR appliances add to energy savings.
    • The advanced technology LED lighting and ENERGY STAR ceiling fans use less energy and generate less heat than traditional lighting products.
    • A compact plumbing design helps hot water from the heat pump water heater quickly reach its destination.
    • A 3.6 COP/18.1 EER ground-source heat pump efficiently heats and cools the townhome.
    • Staggered studs in the walls allow room for insulation to wrap around the edges of the studs preventing heat transfer through the walls.
