    • Habitat for Humanity South Sarasota built the Saragossa Innovation Home in Venice, Florida, to the DOE Zero Energy Ready Home (ZERH) program requirements.
    • This affordable 1,290-square-foot home will cost its homeowners less than $70 per month in energy bills.
    • The home's interior and exterior lighting includes advanced-technology LEDs and high-efficiency fluorescent lights.
    • The home meets the Florida Water Star guidelines with water-saving faucets, toilets, and showerheads.
    • ENERGY STAR ceiling fans provide cooling air movement so residents may be able to use less air conditioning.
    • Energy-efficient appliances like the ENERGY STAR certified refrigerator and dishwasher add to utility bill savings.
    • Zero-VOC interior paints, ceramic tile instead of carpet, bathroom exhaust fans, and construction details that keep moisture out of walls are among the features that helped this home earn an EPA Indoor airPLUS certification.
    • The Saragossa Innovation Home's walls are constructed with foam-filled concrete blocks then insulated along the interior face with ¾-inch extruded polystyrene foam insulation board and a perforated foil insulation sheet for a total insulation value of R-17.5.
    • This sealed attic has 5.5 inches (R-20) of spray foam insulation along the underside of the roof deck providing a conditioned attic space for the heating and cooling ducts.
    • A high-efficiency 15.5 SEER ducted mini-split heat pump located in the unvented, conditioned attic provides heating and cooling.
