Home owner (or occupant) TestimonyThe project’s airtight envelope and filtration system ensure air quality is excellent; all air entering the home is controlled and filtered, even when outdoor pollution is high. Thus far, the house uses 75% less energy than typical new homes. The Passive House strategies that achieve this – airtight envelope, 2x insulation, careful glazing and shading, optimal HVAC, and a compact floorplan – also keep the interior more comfortable in the most extreme weather events. The structure acts as its own battery, storing cool energy to reduce demand on the grid. During power outages it generates its own power through PV and battery backup.Testimony CitationTrey Farmer, builder, FORGE CRAFT ARCHITECTURE + DESIGN
