Urban Prairie Street

    • Revive Properties and Philgreen Construction built this 1,620-square-foot production home in Fort Collins, Colorado, to the high performance criteria of the U.S. Department of Energy Zero Energy Ready Home (ZERH) program.
    • Beneath the fiber cement and stone siding, the exterior walls are filled with blown cellulose.
    • All of the homes in the development feature rooftop solar panels, ground source heat pumps, and staggered-stud wall construction.
    • ENERGY STAR appliances and EPA WaterSense-labeled plumbing fixtures add to energy and water savings.
    • LED lighting and ENERGY STAR ceiling fans supplement the natural light.
    • High-efficiency double-pane windows provide daylight to nearly every room.
    • Spray foam and rigid foam were used under the slabs while rigid foam wraps the exterior of the foundation walls.
    • Rim joists were insulated with R-20 of open-cell spray foam.
    • The underside of the roof deck was insulated with R-50 of open-cell spray foam, providing a conditioned space for the HVAC ducts. Heating and cooling is provided by a 3.6-COP ground-source heat pump.
    • Extensive caulking and spray foam in the attic and at rim joists helped the building achieve draft-free (1.3 ACH 50) construction.
