Simulation software codes include:
- ADAMS2AD: Aset of routines used to interface MSC.ADAMS and AeroDyn.
- AeroDyn: An aerodynamics software library for use by designers of horizontal-axis wind turbines. It is written to be interfaced with structural-dynamics simulators (FAST, MSC.ADAMS, SIMPACK, and FEDEM).
- BladeFS: A MATLAB script that was developed to determine loads and deflections associated with fatigue and static structural testing of wind turbine blades.
- CCBlade: A blade element momentum code designed for efficient use in optimization applications. The solution algorithm is provably convergent, and analytic gradients are provided for all outputs.
- FAST v8: A medium-complexity code for nonlinear aero-servo-elastic analysis of horizontal-axis wind turbines. It can also extract linear state-space models for controls design and can be used to to generate MSC.ADAMS models.
- HARP_Opt: Horizontal Axis Rotor Performance Optimization(HARP_Opt) is a MATLAB script that utilizes a multiple-objective genetic algorithm and blade-element momentum (BEM) theory flow model to design horizontal-axis wind and hydrokinetic turbine rotors.
- HydroDyn: Computes hydrodynamics as part of the hydro-elastic solution in the FAST Modularization Framework.
- InflowWind: InflowWind is a module for reading and interpolating wind inflow files.
- MAP: The Mooring Analysis Program (MAP) is a library designed to be used in parallel with other CAE tools to model the steady-state forces on a Multi-Segmented, Quasi-Static (MSQS) mooring line.
- NAFNoise: A code for determing 2-D airfoil noise using a variety of methods.
- PROPID: PROP Inverse Design is aerodynamic design software developed by the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. You can use it to design rotors. Use this link to visit their site.
- RPM-Sim: An application-specific study of the system dynamics of renewable-energy hybrid (wind-diesel-PV-load etc.) power-systems.
- Seismic: Seismic is a set of routines for simulating seismic loading in wind turbine dynamic analyses. It links with FAST.
- SOWFA: Simulator for Offshore Wind Farm Applications which enable a high-fidelity analysis of fluid physics and structural response using Large-eddy Simulations and FAST.
- SubDyn: A structural-dynamics module for simulating multi-member substructures. It is based on a linear FEM and a dynamics system reduction and can be coupled to FAST to enable aero-hydro-servo-elastic simulation of offshore fixed-bottom wind turbines.
- SymDyn: The functionality for extracting state-space matrices and performing simulation studies for controls design using the aeroelastic SymDyn code has been replaced by functionality in FAST. Please refer to the FAST User's GuidePDF to learn how to use it.
- TurbSim: A stochastic, full-field, turbulent-wind simulator. It is a descendant of SNLWIND-3D and SNwind with many new features.
- WEC-Sim: A MATLAB script that simulates generic motion of wave-energy converters.
