Crossroads at Mingus 2018

    • C & B Custom Homes built this 1,545-square-foot custom home in Clarkdale, Arizona, to the high performance criteria of the U.S. Department of Energy Zero Energy Ready Home (ZERH) program.
    • A 1-inch air gap under the concrete tile roofing provides air flow that helps to cool the roof deck, which is insulated on the underside with open-cell urethane spray foam.
    • Deep overhangs and porches shade the double-paned, argon-filled, low-emissivity windows to keep out summer sun.
    • All of the home's appliances are ENERGY STAR labeled.
    • All of the home's lights fixtures and ENERGY STAR certified ceiling fans use LEDs and some lights are also motion sensor controlled for additional energy savings.
    • A 97% efficient tankless gas water heater provides endless hot water to all of the home's WaterSense-labeled fixtures.
    • The walls are caulked where the base plate meets the foundation slab and foamed where house wrap meets the sill plate. Rigid foam and stucco will be installed over the house wrap and the walls will be filled with R-21 of blown fiberglass insulation.
    • The 2-by-6, 16-inch on-center walls are filled with R-21 of blown fiberglass. Batt insulation is used in some interior wall cavities.
