Foothills at the Dells

    • Mandalay Homes built this 1,648-square-foot production home in Prescott, Arizona, to the high performance criteria of the U.S. Department of Energy Zero Energy Ready Home (ZERH) program.
    • Low-flow fixtures and ENERGY STAR appliances add to water and energy savings in this EPA WaterSense and ENERGY STAR-labeled home.
    • A highly efficient heating and cooling system and a continuously operating energy recovery ventilator help provide clean air that is just the right temperature, both winter and summer.
    • LED lighting and ENERGY STAR-rated windows with heat-blocking low-emissivity coatings provide plenty of light without adding heat to the cool interiors.
    • Spray foam insulates and air-seals the underside of the roof, providing R-25 of continuous insulation.
    • The home's exterior walls were constructed to overhang the foundation wall, which will be covered with a durable high-density spray foam that meets the rigid foam that will cover the sheathing, providing a seamless thermal break.
    • The builder directed all vents through the side walls for a clean, leak-resistant roof.
    • A rigid foam and lathe layer cover the entire home in a continuous layer of insulation.
    • When combined with a 10-kW battery, the small 6-panel, 1.89-kW PV array is all the home needs to meet most of its power needs.
    • The high-efficiency heat pump water heater, located next to the PV power storage battery, helps cool the garage while efficiently heating the home's water supply.
