This training course will present how to develop a comprehensive water management program as it relates to federal requirements and the elements of a comprehensive water management process for federal facilities.

This training focuses on air-cooled computer server selection guidelines for data centers. Data centers house computer servers, storage, and networking equipment, as well as critical support infrastructure such as cooling and electrical systems. These facilities are critical to the mission of many types of organizations, and data center operators are challenged to deliver reliable services, operate efficiently, and ensure resiliency and flexibility.

Course covers hot aisle and cold aisle layout, containment and enclosure strategies, bypass and recirculation air control, alternatives to underfloor air supply, and more.

Course covers traditional cooling system optimization, liquid cooling systems, air-side and water-side economizers, and more.

This course covers efficient components and configurations, electrical distribution, power conversions in relation to energy loss, redundancy requirements for information technology loads, and more.

Course covers safe operating temperatures, server inlet temperatures, humidity ranges and controls, and more.

Course covers virtualization, consolidation, decommissioning, data storage and legacy workload management, power supply efficiency, and more.

The objective of this training is to make the U.S. Department of Energy Data Center Energy Practitioner (DCEP) training program better known to help reduce IT equipment and facility energy use and carbon footprint. The DCEP curriculum includes essential energy-assessment courses for people working with data centers. There are three courses: Generalist, HVAC Specialist, and IT Specialist. The training program has a comprehensive set of training materials, including software tools with what-if capabilities to reinforce and enhance the learning experience.
