Recent legislative and executive action developed plans for workplace charging and fleet acquisition of plug-in electric vehicles (PEVs). Drivers who are unfamiliar with the technology often have questions about the different types of vehicles, safety, battery range, charging, and maintenance. This course presents clear answers to common questions about PEVs.

Execution for long-term success when integrating photovoltaic (PV) technology into a renewable energy portfolio takes planning. This 2020 Energy Exchange Extra session lays considerations for such a plan for a PV system's full life cycle including planning and design, operations and maintenance (O&M) budgeting, O&M resourcing, monitoring/reporting, financing, and operational contingency. This session also surveys PV factors that affect PV system performance, safety, reliability, and durability.

This course teaches you ways to reduce operating costs and provide energy savings to the building you are responsible for or will be responsible for in the future. The focus is on buildings that do not have a building automation system (BAS).

This training series will provide federal agencies with an overview of REopt®, a techno-economic optimization platform that can be used to evaluate distributed energy resources (DERs) to support energy cost savings, resilience, and decarbonization goals. It will focus on REopt web tool capabilities, questions that the tool can help answer, and model inputs and outputs, including site/agency data requirements, default assumptions, and key inputs relevant to federal agencies.

This 2019 Energy Exchange recorded session (Track 3, Session 8) explores how a typical laboratory is three to four times more energy intensive than an average commercial building and can account for up to 70% of a campus’ energy footprint, making laboratories a key focal area for energy and carbon management strategies.

Typically, a data center houses a computer infrastructure as well as support infrastructure such as cooling and electrical systems. This equipment needs constant evaluation to operate as cost-effectively, as possible. This training complements information provided in a previous four-part webinar series in FY21, which introduced a broad toolkit for identifying energy-saving opportunities in data centers.

This 2020 Energy Exchange Extra session guides participants through federal water requirements and drivers and Federal Energy Management Program (FEMP) water tools and resources. It also offers information about how to implement water conservation measures and proven technologies to decrease total water consumption and explains how to maximize alternative water sources and minimize wastewater discharge.

Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL) presents its latest snapshot of efficiency in data centers, based on nearly 60 assessments of energy use and efficiency opportunities from 2006 to 2020. From those assessments, LBNL reports the standard metric for efficiency in data centers, Power Usage Effectiveness or PUE and examines the relationship of average PUE to time, climate and data center type.
